Systems Engineer

The Systems Engineer will be responsible of our systems’ health and stability and of the operational aspects of our global infrastructure, datacenter hardware and services, including maintenance, upgrades, troubleshooting, design, vendor management, virtualization and storage.

Responsibilities:
  • Ensure system performance and reliability, maintain infrastructure solutions and keep them working smoothly
  • 24x7 on-call rotation
  • Perform and document root cause analysis and corrective actions
  • Work with devops engineers to integrate diverse technologies to scale and support ThousandEyes’ service
  • Optimize procedures and operations, compile user documentation and runbook for capacity adds and server refreshes
  • Participate in capacity and strategic planning sessions to help us scale effectively and efficiently
Requirements:
  • Minimum 3 years of Linux systems administration in SaaS, PaaS and Multi-Tenant infrastructure, with proven experience installing mission-critical Linux-based infrastructure
  • Excellent knowledge of Bash
  • Familiarity with Debian based operating systems
  • Experience with distributed file systems (e.g. NFS, GlusterFS) and RAID systems
  • Experience with monitoring systems such as Nagios, Ganglia, Logstash, Graphite
  • Experience with virtualization software such as VMWare ESXi, vCenter, vSphere, Xen
  • Experience in large-scale enterprise application/system rollouts
  • Familiar with disaster recovery technologies, concepts and procedures
A plus if you also have:
  • Knowledge of router/switch configuration (Cisco IOS)
  • Experience with load balancer configurations
  • Knowledge of MS Windows server architectures, including Microsoft System Center (SCOM, SCCM, SCVMM), Active Directory, MS Exchange, MS SharePoint
