Analytics Engineer - Data Visualization
Mountain View, CA, United States
Job Type: Full-Time
The Data Analytics Engineer is responsible for developing, extending, and maintaining the front-end systems for business users interact with to visualize data and measure the success of goals. Expertise with data visualization, metrics generation, reporting, and user interface design required. The ideal candidate would have a passion for providing the best possible data analysis tools to business users, and an interest in deriving insights from raw data and creating useful new ways to visualize these findings.
Mozilla deals with large volumes of data and delivering this data to users without drowning them in it requires cutting edge skills, creative thinking and disciplined engineering. Because Mozilla is committed to the open source community, this position will provide an unique opportunity to work on ways to use data for the good of all internet users and to talk about and share your work rather than having it be constantly kept secret and used solely to drive the profit of a company.
Requirements:
* Expertise designing dashboards, charts, tables, and other visualizations to allow users to analyze metrics
* Expertise with SQL -- Aggregation, optimized joining, and both query and schema tuning
* Experience with Pentaho BI server, jFreeReport, jFreeCharts, and Mondrian preferred
* Experience with extracting user requiments and turning them into specifications for business intelligence portals
* Experience with star schema usage (Kimball methodologies)
* Expertise with MDX (Mondrian based) a big plus
* Experience with developing dynamic web sites using JavaScript (JS frameworks like jQuery a plus), HTML, and CSS
