Senior Java Developer

JOB SUMMARY:  This position is a member of the IT Web development team and is responsible for the design, development, and unit testing of web applications.  As a senior member of the development organization, this position is also responsible for training and mentoring other developers, supporting enterprise architecture activities, contributing to the development of best-practice materials, and helping to improve Hub’s software development processes, tools, and techniques.  Interaction with business leaders is required, especially in the areas of leading and assisting in project estimations, project planning activities, and requirements gathering activities.             
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:                                              
  • Design, develop, and test web-based Java applications in an n-tier computing environment
  • Contribute to the improvement of Hub’s web architectures, development environments and tools, software development methods and approaches, and production support tools
  • Lead requirements gathering, design, and project planning activities
  • Provide maintenance and 2nd-tier production support for existing web-based Java applications
  • Train and mentor developers on programming languages, tools, and techniques used in web-based Java application development
  • Other duties as directed by management
  • B.S. in Computer Science or similar field
  • 5 years experience with full development lifecycle in a Web environment using Java, HTML and Javascript tools such as JQuery
  • 2 years experience with J2EE framework, including JSF, Spring, Hibernate, JPA, and JMS
  • Experience with ADF, AJAX and Rest is preferred
  • Experience with WebLogic server
  • Familiarity with Oracle’s Fusion Middleware environments, including Oracle's Application Development Framework (ADF), Oracle WebCenter, Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), Oracle Access Manager (OAM) is preferred
  • 2 years experience in peer/employee mentoring and training
  • Proven analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong customer service, teaching, and mentoring skills
  • Proven software design, technical change management, testing, and upgrade/maintenance experience
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a projects-based, team environment
  • Proficient in multi-tasking and managing multiple projects
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to change
  • Familiarity with PrimeFaces or IceFaces
  • Familiarity with SQLServer, or DB2/iSeries
  • Familiarity with UML
  • Familiarity with basic Unix / Linux commands
  • Familiarity with VB Script
  • PowerBuilder development experience
  • C/Unix development experience
  • XML Xpath
