Who We’re Looking For

As a key member of the Wishabi team, you will be responsible for supporting all development and production environments.  Someone who can work closely with our different engineering teams, QA, Partner Technology and Product Management team to support and maintain our infrastructure that runs the next generation of the digital shopping experience.  Our applications run on the cloud with Amazon Web Services (AWS), experience in AWS would be beneficial.

All our engineering team members are great communicators and it feels like a tight-knit family when you come to work.  We are looking for someone who’s great at building relationships with different teams in a highly dynamic environment, as well as a commitment to serving the needs of our customers.

Your Accountability & Duties

  • Your role will have a focus on : System Administration will be (80%) and we’ll help you grow your skills on the Developer Operations (DevOps) side (20% - see our ‘Nice to Haves’ List)

  • You’ll be joining our Infrastructure team supporting all of Wishabi including Engineering

  • Your role is to Provide technical support for servers, desktops (Windows and Macbook Administration, Mobile Phone Administration is a nice to have) and network connectivity

  • Taking care of all hardware issues and acting quickly to resolve them (including AWS)

  • Support, maintain and continually improve virtualization infrastructure in a rapidly growing, distributed environment - This includes tracking costs, monitoring usage, and creating backups

  • Document any changes to our infrastructure

  • Solving difficult challenges, finding more efficient ways to build infrastructure and working as a team to roll out new versions are just some of the daily activities you’ll encounter

  • Ability to manage multiple cases at once and keep your team updated on what’s going on

  • Working within an Agile environment, we pride ourselves on quickly innovating and improving our systems, so we can serve our retail clients better

  • Learning new technology. We are doing things that haven’t been done in the market, sometimes that means learning new ways to solve interesting problems - being efficient, scalable and well thought out system decisions are high on our list

  • Debug problems and implement fixes in a timely manner

  • Assist our Engineering team in resolving internal and external customer related problems

  • We move quickly, so if you’re keen, we will introduce you to new projects and areas

What You Bring to the Team

We only work with the best and brightest. You’ll be joining a multi-disciplinary team, working closely with many teams. We’re looking for people possessing the following traits and skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a Technical program

  • 2+ years of supporting development and production environments

  • 4+ years supporting Microsoft Windows 7+, Microsoft Office 2010+, Networking and security hardware including Cisco

  • Knowledge in backup/restore operations

  • Knowledge of implementation, troubleshooting, and performance tuning of virtual development environments

  • Able to learn quickly and easily adapt to a wide variety of technical challenges

  • Excellent communication skills - you have a way with words & can connect easily with others

  • You take a leadership role on tasks assigned to you and work really well as part of a team

  • Highly organized time management skills - you’re able to juggle multiple priorities at once

  • A passion for constant improvement - always looking to do things better (both personally, as part of a team and for the company)

  • A problem solver with a positive attitude and excellent relationship management skills

  • You’re a self-starter, highly effective working independently and within a team

Nice to Haves:

  • Previous exposure to Ruby on Rails and Relational Databases (preferably MySQL)

  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools like Jira and Confluence

  • Maintain version control systems like Git for our Developers

  • Unix command line shell scripting

  • Managing IT infrastructure monitoring tools like Nagios

  • Event and Log Management Tools like Elasticsearch and logstash
