Sr. Network Engineer
Information Technology | San Mateo, CA
Senior Network Architect
A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.
-Robert A. Heinlein
Design it. Build it. Own it. Connect the world.
Pivotal is seeking a senior level Network Architect/Engineer to assist us in the design, build and ongoing care of our global and local networks. Do you experience a sublime thrill from watching packets traverse the world across a network that you helped design? Does the idea of building and running a secure enterprise network for thousands of users, but with the in-built agility of a 20-person startup, take your breath away? Then we’d like to meet you.
Who is Pivotal?
We are a global software and services company. Our people are diverse, distributed and are world-class talents in their fields.
What does Pivotal do?
Pivotal is building a new platform for a new era, setting the standard for Enterprise Platform- as-a-Service (PaaS). The company’s mission is to enable customers to build a new class of applications, leveraging big and fast data, doing all of this with the power of cloud independence.
What does Pivotal IT do?
Pivotal IT is a lean, high-performing organization whose chief goal is to enable all our teams to do what they do best: deliver amazing software and services. We work smart and we work together to keep our compatriots connected, our datacenters online and the bits flowing.
What do we need from you?
Senior+ level networking talent and experience with some solid systems experience. Someone who can be as comfortable tossing up a BSD router in a pinch as they can be architecting the connections between globally distributed MPLS clouds. We will work with many teams, communicate with many people, work with vendors, define budgets and meet deadlines. We design, plan, implement and maintain and we’re all as likely to run cables as we are to sit down with executives. We share, communicate and train each other. We do travel as needed, but not all the time. We are building the Special Forces, not the whole Army.
What technologies do you use?
Just a few of many: Palo Alto Networks, Cisco, Extreme
