Who You Are

The Web Developer incorporates all areas of creating a Web site for the World Wide Web. This includes the creation of Web sites using development languages and frameworks such as HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, PHP, Perl, Java and .NET. The Web Developer is also responsible for basic server administration tasks, content management loading, Email marketing programs, marketing, testing and deployment. The Web Developer must own the operational aspects of five to ten websites or distinct interactive-marketing efforts and act as a client-facing Technology resource for the Client Service team when necessary.

The Web Developer is expected to do programming on a day-to-day basis on projects to which they are assigned by the Senior Systems Analyst or the Development Manager. In line with their accountability for portions of the business, the Web Developer has trafficking and scheduling responsibilities for projects on their websites, utilizing the resources of others. The Web Developer’s manager will assist him or her in identifying internal resources and/or sign-off on the acquisition of external resources. Once the Web Developer has identified resources, he or she will use delegation to build their support teams’ expertise.

Finally, the Web Developer is responsible for growing their segment of the business by assisting team pitches to existing clients. The Web Developer is expected to develop cost and work estimates and technical implementation plans for newly acquired jobs that relate to their websites. Ultimate planning, resource assignment, and sign-off responsibilities for new jobs lie with the managing Senior Systems Analyst, Development Manager and Project Manager assigned to the project. The Web Developer reports to the Senior Systems Analyst or the Development Manager.

The Day to Day 
  • Understands the needs, strategies, and opportunities for interactive marketing with respect to his/her websites so he/she can work with the cross-discipline team to build the customer’s business and exceed the customer’s expectations
  • Provides presales technical support for his/her websites
  • Acts as resource for assembling project estimates and plans for his/her websites
  • Owns problem resolution for his/her websites
  • Schedules work for Associate Web Developers, Co-ops, Interns, and Contractors who support him/her
  • Acts as an internal escalation point on technical or production issues
  • Leading technical and interactive tool direction across multiple websites

Must Haves
  • 3 - 6 years of relevant experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or industry equivalent required
  • Self-sufficient worker
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills including both verbal and written
  • Must be proactive and a self-starter
  • Must maintain an entrepreneurial mindset
  • Experience with Source Code Repository software, such as Tortoise SVN, is preferred
