UI Architect
Engineering | San Francisco, CA, United States

AppDirect is rapidly expanding and looking to bring on a kick-ass UI Architect for our growing team in San Francisco. As the UI Team Lead you will design, develop and grow our front end framework used across the platform. You will be the point person for technical leadership, mentorship, and coaching as we seek to disrupt the future of software distribution.

We love entrepreneurial spirit and those who bring experience from established organizations. You are a highly technical, hands-on developer with a passion for producing maintainable and robust code. You are a team player that wants to be part of a team that Gets Things Done.

What we look for:
  • 6+ years architecting UI heavy web apps with various frameworks.
  • Expertise building web apps in HTML, CSS, JS and in conjunction with one or more MVC JS frameworks (we use backbone), SASS, and RequireJS.
  • You love using syntactically-sugared CSS and have opinions on how stylesheets should be organized.
  • Our UI is a combination of a java framework and backbone with calls to RESTful JSON APIs. You have the skills to understand how enterprise web applications built on MVC JS frameworks come together and suggest and implement changes to make it better.
  • Your HTML is a thing of beauty.
  • You have a critical, detail-oriented eye for design and interaction, and look forward to making design decisions while at the same time have the capability to look at the big picture.
What you’ll be doing:
  • Lead our UI Engineering team in designing and building out our front end framework (CSS, HTML, JS) used across the platform. Our front end team will look to you for technical leadership, mentorship and coaching.
  • Drive UI best practices across design, implementation, framework usage and testing, and own our modular front end SCSS, HTML and JS.
  • Own the technical solution for how our whitelabeled platform can be customized so that our customer's marketplaces are easy to maintain, implement and build.
  • Work closely with our design team to make sure all interactions are top notch and to your standard.
  • Build your own design improvements to meet your high standards and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge and experience with Java or related frameworks.
  • Contribution to any of the leading open source frameworks.
  • Experience with UI unit test frameworks like Mocha.
