With its Big Data heritage and market-leading analytics, Ooyala delivers extremely personalized media experiences to all screens.
Working at Ooyala is fast-paced, fun, and challenging, and we thrive on innovation. Come join our team and help shape the future of TV.

Are you a little obsessive about user experience? Do you love video?
Us too. In fact, we’ve made our name by creating incredible video viewing experiences: ones that are personal to each viewer, show flawlessly on any screen from 2” to 200”, and are engaging enough to keep people watching clips, shows and live streams until they’re late for dinner. We enable publishers and content owners to easily create these experiences for their consumers using simple, easy to use video publishing tools.
Now we’re looking for a new UX Manager to show us a thing or two. It’s a big job: you’ll develop next-gen UX design solutions, and match wits with our crack team of engineers as you dive deep into the design process for software apps. You’ll also work with clients like ESPN, VICE, UNIVISION and NBC Universal. You lead the aesthetics and usability for Ooyala’s video delivery, analytics and consumer facing products.
What you will do:
  • Set the design direction for all of Ooyala’s consumer and enterprise products and solutions.
  • Evangelize a clear vision of best-in-class designs to senior executives, customers and analysts.
  • Own the administrative side: briskly handle all UX project deliverables (concepts, wireframes, prototypes, specifications, etc.), project engagement agreements, timelines and final delivery.
  • Work with customers, conduct user studies and research, document user stories and requirements
  • Craft UX engagements that exceed our customers’ expectations. (And they expect a lot.) You’ll work with key stakeholders to understand their business needs, solve their problems elegantly, and advocate industry best practices for user centered design (UCD).
  • Provide UX design and direction to Ooyala’s professional services organization.
  • Work with onsite and remote teams.
  • Work with remote third party teams, when necessary.
We’re also a little obsessive about hiring the very best people.
You must have:

  • 8+ years experience managing a team responsible for creating large-scale enterprise application interfaces or websites.
  • A smart portfolio to share — showing both your work and the work from teams you’ve led.
  • A proven track record of leading interdisciplinary teams as they deployed best-of-breed, innovative, and user-beloved software applications.
  • The proven ability to deliver for long term, multi-million dollar engagements with multiple project tracks and teams.
  • A deep understanding of product development, with special experience in tying product goals to business goals.
  • Hands-on expertise in information architecture, use case development, storyboarding, mock-ups and highly interactive prototypes.
  • Experience building both mobile and Web applications.
  • A firm handle on front-end technologies like HTML, JavaScript, CSS, Flash and Flex.
  • The ability to work smoothly with product teams of all levels and backgrounds, from VPs to administrative support staff.
  • The ability to thrive collaboratively. You should be open to feedback and know how and when to defend design choices.
  • An engaging presentation style, with solid writing and visual communication skills.
Is that asking too much? You tell us.
