Carrier Development Analyst

JOB SUMMARY:  Facilitate all aspects of Truck Load sourcing including but not limited to, evaluation of carrier capabilities, analysis, rate negotiation, secure capacity, support of field operations to direct capacity to available loads and implementation of Truck Load solutions.  
                                                                   
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:                                              
  • Negotiate price and capacity with a goal of creating benefit to customers and overall increase in company profit, service and efficiency.
  • Effectively communicate with the carriers to understand their service capabilities and needs.
  • Provide support to Hub field Operations relative to costs and capacity.
  • Educate carriers on all relevant Hub Group processes including, but not limited to, operations, invoicing, and technology usage.
  • Develop long-term strategies with carrier partners to identify their capacity needs and match those needs with consistent opportunities within the Hub Network.
  • Support the Director of Truck Load Procurement in maximizing the utilization and management of the active carrier base.
  • Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 3 years of applicable transportation/logistics experience.
  • Understanding of transportation economics and cost analysis.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Well organized with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to use various analytical tools to support Hub field offices in projects
  • Excellent written and oral communication, presentation, and project management skills.
  • Strong PC skills – MSExcel, MSWord.  MSAccess skills a plus.
  • Must be a self-starter, and have the ability to communicate and interface effectively with all levels of the Hub organization, its Customers, and Carriers in a manner that consistently produces results.
  • Undergraduate degree preferred – major coursework or experience in transportation, logistics, marketing, or finance a plus.
