The Role: Senior Director Data Engineering
The Senior Director of Data Engineering develops and executes the roadmap for the data systems that power Adconion’s core financial, BI, and decision support capabilities. This position requires the skill to identify, implement and innovate the right technology applications that achieve business advantage. Reporting to the CTO, this position will be closely involved with executive management and influencing strategic directions.
Responsibilities:
- Use your hands-on skills with Hadoop, data warehousing, and large-scale design/ programming to lead the team to evolve the Company’s stream processing pipelines that handle 1+B transactions per day.
- Work with key stake holders and external constituents to develop a detailed roadmap to expand our platform to meet the needs of a competitive and fast-evolving business.
- Conduct employee performance reviews, hire, train and use of organizational skills to build on team success.
- Work in a team environment for all aspects of development.
- Proven ability to recruit and lead a team of world class engineers.
- Ability to evangelize, influence and set business & technology strategy.
- Ability to effectively communicate and present in front of executives and staff around the globe.
Requirements:
- BS, MS or PhD in CS, EE, Math, Physics or Operations Research required
- Experience with the latest techniques for large-scale processing of 1+B transactions/day
- Comfortable with scalable data processing software development techniques, tools and architectures
- 5+ years experience in large scale data processing applications with one or more of the following: Java, Python, Perl, SQL
- 3+ years experience with Hadoop, Pig, Hive
- 5+ years experience building and deploying scalable ETL and dimensional data warehouses
- 5+ years experience deploying in 24/7 production environments
- Experience with massive web scale data mining algorithms and applications required
- Exceptional written, verbal, and executive communication skills as well as teamwork skills required
- Proven ability delivering data visualization tools, reports, and guidance to users
- Familiarity designing and deploying MDX cubes to an excel power user base a plus
- Experience working with product management and executive management to turn ideas into products and technology implementations
- Experience with PostgresSQL preferred.
