About this Job
We're looking for an experienced engineer who has been successful working with a small team to build and deliver products from scratch. The ideal candidate is passionate about both writing excellent code and working with a great team to deliver products. This role is for the seasoned generalist who appreciates the user experience and is comfortable working at all layers of our Rails/Ruby stack. At Strava we love engineers that can express their ideas - it's not a coincidence that the best engineers are often the best writers.
Responsibilities
Translate high-level customer/business needs into well-defined and scoped functionality
Implement new functionality, improve existing infrastructure
Requirements
BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
Deep knowledge of Java, Ruby, or Python
Experience building web applications in a production environment (enterprise or consumer) using an MVC framework
Work examples or personal projects that show an aptitude for product sense
Disciplined approach to testing and quality assurance
Proficiency in SQL and data-modeling

Experience with Rails
Experience working on a test-first/agile development team
Experience scaling high traffic websites
Experience performance tuning MySQL
Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and Javascript
