One Kings Lane is looking for a Design Director to join our growing Creative team and help shape the future of our brand. The successful candidate will have 8+ years of experience in a design studio, agency/brand consultancy, magazine or design-driven corporate environment, a compelling portfolio, strong leadership skills, excellent visual and verbal communication skills, superb methodology, a kind and open demeanor, and the ability to excel within a hyper fast-paced team environment. He/she will have superior project management and production skills and be able to successfully lead a team of talented digital designers in building a premiere lifestyle brand. The Design Director will manage the output of the Daily Sales design team under the direction of the VP of Creative, and will liaise closely with the copy, editorial, marketing, merchandising and style teams. Core Responsibilities • Review, critique and ultimately approve all visual assets for daily sales: promotional or marketing placements, editorial templates, sales needing special call-outs or type treatment, etc. • Engage with the VP of Creative on a strategic level to brainstorm new ways of treating daily sales and seasonal campaigns • Contribute to the refinement and evolution of our brand architecture and sub-brands/franchises • Articulate and present creative concepts to leadership, peers and direct reports – be able to represent the VP of Creative on all design aspects of our daily sales • Foster a studio environment that is on-brand: agile, passionate, innovative, and customer-focused • Lead projects through all phases of the design process: from development of strategic intent through conceptual mock-up to final holistic execution Required Skills/Quantifications • Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design • 8+ years of experience • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and MS Office • Deep experience taking projects from concept to execution• Superb typographic and iconographic skills • Strong editorial sensibility and excellent layout skills • Deep passion for craft, texture and detail • Innate understanding of campaign execution across a multitude of online and offline applications and platforms: must have a love of storytelling, an appreciation of messaging hierarchy, and a natural sense for voice, tone and positioning • Strong collaboration and leadership skills:proven ability to manage and extract the best from internal and freelance talent, including illustrators, designers, copywriters, developers and production artists on an as-needed basis • Experience with packaging design and development • Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple projects simultaneously • Ability to react to directional changes quickly and positively, and to be able to receive and implement constructive feedback • Appreciation of the balance between creative and business opportunities *LI-OK
