Role
The Assistant Designer position will contribute to the company’s strategic initiative to grow Global Sourcing and Private Brand by supporting the Design Manager. The Design Assistant will have the opportunity to design and develop a product category. This individual will work with internal and external (agent/vendor) partners to execute proprietary brand development.
Responsibilities • Create design briefs/specs for seasonal developments. Create briefs development direction that may include technical drawings/ specs, artwork, material/fabric quality, trims, CD’s, and technique swatches. Forward briefs/spec packages to vendors/ agents. • Create product mock-ups and artwork for concept presentations. • Request samples with due dates from agents/ vendors. • Prepare samples for product development meetings and product reviews. Attend weekly product meetings and contribute where appropriate. • Provide detailed comments/ revisions and/ or updated spec packages after product review by Design Manager/Director, Brand Manager and merchant teams. • Create, maintain and update department files. • Send out final approval comments of color, construction, and design. • Conduct market and trend research and provide product/theme/design ideas to the team. • Have knowledge and understanding of seasonal time lines, key due dates and work to maintain timelines. Qualifications • BA or Design Degree • 3 years experience supporting team with projects and deadlines • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop
